Calderdale is fantastic cycling country whether you are a fanatic or leisure cyclist. The Mary Towneley Loop is part of the new bridleway in the South Pennines. It is 47 miles long with 6,300ft of ascent.
Fully way marked and mainly off road running on paths and tracks, the Mary Towneley Loop takes in some of the best scenery Yorkshire and the South Pennines has to offer for either cyclists or walkers.
The route takes in the hillsides and crosses the valleys between two counties taking in Rossendale, Burnley, Hebden Bridge, Todmorden and Rochdale.
For those not wishing to embark on such a long route there are various smaller cycling and walking trails linked to the Mary Towneley Loop.
