If you’re in town for a show or event at The Piece Hall, you’ll step off the train and be at this captivating Grade I listed venue in under 10 minutes. This location is great for those wanting to make the last train after seeing their favourite artist.

For those visiting Halifax with children, the station is right next door to Eureka! The National Children’s Museum and at just a three-minute walk away, it’s perfect for little legs.

It’s also close to the major high street shops and the historic Borough Market, which has been open since 1896. So, if you’re popping into town for some retail therapy or want to visit the main attractions, you can easily get back to the station.

How do I buy tickets at Halifax station?

There’s a ticket machine available at the station and a counter service Monday to Saturday, so it’s possible to buy tickets on the day you’re travelling. However, if you book ahead, it’s more likely you’ll pick up cheaper tickets for your journey.

When you plan your trip in advance, you’ll be able to choose from a range of great-value tickets for Halifax trains. How much cheaper your rail fare will be and the type of ticket you buy depends on when you’re travelling and how open you can be about departure times.

The three main types of train tickets available to buy for travel from or to Halifax train station – and other locations in the UK – are Advance, Anytime and Off-peak. It’s worth knowing the difference between these so you can decide on the type that will work for you.

Advance tickets are ideal if you have a budget in mind and know the exact time and date you want to travel. Booking these well ahead of your travel date will bag you the best fares.

Should you need some wiggle room, Anytime tickets can be used on any valid train. Want to avoid rush hour? Off-peak train tickets are for you. These tend to be cheaper than Anytime tickets, making it an easy way to save.
