Due to availability of train crew train services running across the whole network may be cancelled or revised. Disruption is expected until the end of the day.

Customer Advice:

A reduced Thameslink and Great Northern service is operating on some routes.

We have listed these below, along with alternative journey options. These will be available at no extra cost.

Thameslink and Great Northern recommend you check whether or not your planned train is running before you decide whether to use an alternative. In some cases, you may also be able to change trains to get to your destination more quickly.

However, if your journey is affected, we estimate that you may need to leave up to 30 minutes of extra time, whether you use another train or another public transport option.

Moorgate - Welwyn Garden City:

There will be some cancellations on this route, especially before 18:00.

You can use the following at no extra cost:

  • Any reasonable alternative Thameslink and Great Northern services
  • London Underground services between North London and Central London, including the Northern Line and the Piccadilly Line
  • London Buses services between North London and Central London (if asked, please state the reference "PrePay 273" when boarding the bus)

Horsham / London Kings Cross - Peterborough:

Cancellations on this route will occur throughout the evening.

For longer journeys, it may be quicker to wait for the next train, but we are also working to arrange replacement buses for a small number of journeys north of London tonight. Buses will be shown on journey planners, if confirmed.

You can use the following at no extra cost:

  • Southern services between Horsham and London Bridge
  • Metrobus services between Horsham, Crawley/Three Bridges, Gatwick Airport, Redhill and Merstham
  • London Underground services across London
  • Alternative Great Northern services on any reasonable route

Can you tell me more about the incident?

We know these cancellations and service changes are inconvenient, and Thameslink and Great Northern are doing everything they can to run as many trains as possible. Unfortunately, they have got a shortage of train drivers, and this means some trains will be cancelled, so we're letting you know as soon as possible and putting alternative arrangements in place, wherever we can.
