Due to an unavailability of train crew between Peterborough and Cambridge, Great Northern and Thameslink service will be reduced.

Disruption is expected on Saturday 4 December.

Customer advice

Which routes are most affected, and how to make your journey:

Thameslink trains between Peterborough, London and Horsham:

From around 12:00 midday, trains on this route will be revised:

North of London: Thameslink will run hourly between Peterborough and Stevenage only. This means you'll need to plan ahead and check which services are running, and change at Stevenage to connect with alternative trains to and from London.

South of London: Thameslink will run hourly between Horsham and Three Bridges only. If you're travelling to or from Littlehaven or Ifield, you'll need to plan ahead and check which services are running.

Services which run between Three Bridges and Bedford via Redhill will connect with these shuttle services, and will generally call additionally at Merstham and Coulsdon South.

Thameslink and Great Northern trains between Ely, Cambridge, Royston and London:

From around 12:00 midday, you can expect cancellations that reduce the frequency of trains on these routes.

You should still be able to travel, but you'll need to plan ahead and check which services are running. At some points in the afternoon and evening, there may be a 60 minute wait between trains.

Other routes:

Some other services will also see cancellations, including services between Stevenage and London via Hertford North, and stopping services between Welwyn Garden City and London. However, there are no major changes planned, so the best advice is to check ahead using a journey planner before you leave for the station.

Last services of the evening:

Great Northern and Thameslink are planning to run our last services in the evening on all routes, subject to any other disruption on the day. However, if you do need assistance, speak to a member of staff or use a station Help Point.

Additional ticket acceptance:

You shouldn't need to use other operators' services for most journeys. However, we will be making arrangements for your tickets to be valid on various other routes. This will mean you can use an alternative option if your train is cancelled.

Engineering works:

The following planned engineering works may also affect your journey on Saturday:

  • No trains are planned to run to or from Moorgate all weekend
  • Late on Saturday night, there will be changes to trains in the Bedford and Luton area, and these will affect some Thameslink services via Central London
