A shortage of Great Northern and Thameslink train crew means that fewer trains are able to run between London Kings Cross and Peterborough / Cambridge / Hertford North.

Trains between London Kings Cross and Peterborough / Cambridge / Hertford North may be cancelled.

Disruption is expected until the end of the day.

Which Thameslink routes are affected today?

A reduced service is in place between London and Peterborough.

Note that planned engineering work is taking place, so it may aid your journey to use existing rail replacement bus services, between Harpenden (calling at St Albans) and Potters Bar as well as between Luton Airport Parkway (calling at Luton) and Hitchin.

Which Great Northern routes are affected today?

A reduced service is in place between Finsbury Park and Stevenage via Hertford North, and between London Kings Cross, Welwyn Garden City and Cambridge.

Alternative routes and ticket acceptance:

Your Thameslink or Great Northern ticket will be accepted on any of the following at no extra cost:

  • Between Southern and Thameslink mutually, on routes between Horsham or Brighton and London
  • Metrobus services, between Horsham and Redhill
  • TfL Buses between Central London, North London and stations as far as Hadley Wood
  • Tube services on any reasonable route
  • London Overground services between London Liverpool Street and Enfield Town
  • Greater Anglia services between London Liverpool Street and Hertford East
  • LNER services, between Peterborough and Kings Cross
  • Uno Buses:
    - 601 between Welwyn Garden City and Radlett (for Hatfield and St Albans City) 
    - 602 between Hatfield, St Albans and Radlett
    - 610 between Luton, Harpenden, Hatfield, Welham Green, Brookmans Park and Potters Bar
    - 653 between St Albans, Hatfield and Welwyn Garden City
