A points failure at Littlehampton means that trains are currently unable to run to / from this station.

As a result, trains may be cancelled, revised or diverted.

This is expected until 13:00.

Customer advice:

Services are currently unable to run to or from Littlehampton until further notice while Network Rail fix an issue with the points systems which allow trains access to and from Littlehampton station.

While this issue is ongoing services which normally run to and terminate and restart at Littlehampton from London Victoria will now divert to and start back from Barnham. For travel between Barnham and Littlehampton your ticket will be accepted on Stagecoach 500 between these stations.

Services which run between Brighton and Chichester via Littlehampton will either divert after Ford to Barnham and not call at Littlehampton or will be cancelled. If you are travelling on one of these services and it's cancelled please travel on alternative services between Brighton and Portsmouth & Southsea.

To help you complete your journey today you ticket will be accepted on the following at no extra cost

  • Any alternative Southern services between Brighton and Portsmouth & Southsea and on any alternative Southern service between Barnham and London Victoria
  • Stagecoach buses on routes 500 and 700

Can you tell me more about the incident?

Points are movable sections of track, allowing trains to move from one line to another. On some of the busier lines, over 100 trains will pass over just one set of points every day.

A set of points on the approach to Littlehampton station which directs trains into the platforms has failed which means trains can no longer enter or leave the station. Network Rail response staff are on route and once on site will be able to provide us with an update to when the points can be fixed.
