A person has been hit by a train between Caterham and Purley. Whilst the emergency services carry out their work, all lines between these stations are closed. Trains will be cancelled.

This is expected until 12:00.

Your journey is likely to be severely delayed. Some trains will be revised, only completing parts of their normal journeys. There will also be some cancellations.

Please allow an extra 30 minutes to travel as you will have to use another transport provider, and possible an alternative route, ticket acceptance is listed below.

Services that normally run between London Bridge and Caterham / Tattenham Corner are suspended. Please use alternative trains from London Bridge to East Croydon / Purley.

Ticket acceptance on alternative routes:

  • Southern and Thameslink services on any reasonable route, including between London and Epsom, Epsom Downs, Gatwick Airport, and Oxted.
  • South Western Railway services between Epsom and London Waterloo
  • London Trams services between East and West Croydon
  • London Underground services between London Terminals
  • London Overground services between West Croydon and New Cross Gate
  • Metrobus:
    • 420 for Sutton, Belmont, Tattenham Corner, Tadworth, Reigate, Redhill
    • 460 for Epsom, Tadworth, Tattenham Corner, Tadworth, Reigate, Redhill, Earlswood (A23), Salfords (Church), Gatwick Airport and Crawley
    • 480 for Epsom and Tattenham Corner

Alternative stations/walking routes

From Tattenham Corner you can walk to Epsom Downs which takes approximately 30 minutes. Epsom Downs station can be used for alternative Southern train services towards London Victoria via Sutton and West Croydon. Walking route can be found here.

From Whyteleafe you can walk to Upper Warlingham which takes approximately 7 minutes. Upper Warlingham can be used for alternative services towards London Victoria. Walking route can be found here..

From Coulsdon Town you can walk to Coulsdon South which takes approximately 13 minutes. Coulsdon South can be used for alternative Southern and Thameslink services towards London and Gatwick. Walking route can be found here.
