Heavy rain has caused a landslip between Crowborough and Uckfield, and as a result all lines are blocked.
There will be no trains between Crowborough and Uckfield today.
Customer Advice
Due to yesterdays heavy rains, we have confirmed reports of a landslip in the Crowborough area.
This will result in no services being able to run between Crowborough, Buxted and Uckfield.
This will be in effect until the end of the day today, Thursday 21 October.
Trains will run between London Bridge and Crowborough ONLY.
At this time, there is no alternative transport to supplement the train service.
Southern therefore advise to make your own arrangements to travel to Crowborough, East Grinstead or Haywards Heath to connect with services there.
You can use your ticket on the below, at no extra cost to yourself, but please do add extra time to complete your journey.
- Thameslink between East Grinstead / Oxted and London
- Southeastern between Tonbridge/Tunbridge Wells and London Bridge
- Southern between Lewes, Three Bridges and London
- Brighton and Hove Buses on routes between Lewes, Uckfield, Crowborough and Tunbridge Wells as below:
- Route 28 between Uckfield and Tunbridge Wells
- Route 29 between Uckfield and Tunbridge Wells (for Crowborough)

Specialist engineers have been on site overnight, to assess the damage, and work out the repair work needed to make the line safe for the passage of trains. This work, as well as any further rain that may hamper it, is the reason for the closure of the line.
