Following a number of incidents earlier today between London Victoria and Balham lines have reopened. Train services running to and from these stations may continue to be cancelled, delayed or revised. Disruption is expected until 10:00. Customer Advice

Trains between London Victoria and East Croydon, West Croydon or Sutton may still be disrupted, but all lines are now open. This follows an earlier broken down train between Clapham Junction and Balham, affecting a number of southbound trains. In addition, the fire alarms are no longer sounding at London Victoria and all lines are open there as well. If your train has already been in the area, it may have a delay of up to 20-30 minutes, and some late-running trains may be revised at short notice to stop at different stations. Alternative journey options: To help you with your journey, your ticket will be accepted at no extra cost on:

• London Underground services on any reasonable route (please note some lines are disrupted this morning, including the District and Circle Lines via Victoria)
• London Buses on any reasonable route in the Central London area, and as far as Croydon, Sutton, Purley or Redhill
• Thameslink on any reasonable route, where available, but these trains may be disrupted by overrunning engineering works at London Bridge

There is mutual ticket acceptance in place between Southern and Gatwick Express.

Can you tell me more about the incident? 

Southern have been working with the train crew and Fleet teams to move the defective train at Wandsworth Common as quickly as possible, following an onboard computer system fault. This has since been done, but the fire alarms at Victoria were then activated. This incident has now been dealt with as well, and they are now getting trains and crews back in place.
