The emergency services are dealing with an incident between Stoke-on-Trent and Stockport. While the emergency services carry out their work all lines are closed. Trains running between these stations may be cancelled, delayed by up to 60 minutes, revised or diverted.

Disruption is expected until 12:00.

Avanti West Coast

Some services may be diverted via Crewe.

You may use your ticket onboard the following services at no extra cost:

  • CrossCountry between Stafford and Manchester Piccadilly
  • East Midlands Railway between Stoke-on-Trent and Crewe
  • London Northwestern Railway between Stafford and Crewe
  • Northern between Macclesfield and Manchester Piccadilly
  • Transport for Wales between Crewe and Manchester Piccadilly

If your train is cancelled, your ticket is valid on one of the two Avanti West Coast services immediately before your booked train, or one of the two immediately after.

CrossCountry

Some services may be diverted via Crewe.

You may use your ticket at no extra cost onboard the following services:

  • Avanti West Coast via any reasonable route
  • London Northwestern Railway via any reasonable route
  • Northern between Crewe and Manchester Piccadilly
  • Transport for Wales between Crewe and Manchester Piccadilly

Northern

Rail replacement transport has been sourced and will operate as follows:

  • From Stoke-on-Trent calling all stations to Macclesfield at 10:35 (operated by JKT)
  • From Macclesfield calling all stations to Stoke-on-Trent at 10:40 (operated by Bestway)

Journey times will be extended by up to 60 minutes when using road replacement transport.

Crewe to Manchester Piccadilly services in both directions are not impacted by this disruption.

You may use your ticket at no extra cost on board London Northwestern Railway services between Stoke-on-Trent and Crewe in both directions to connect with Northern services.
