A points failure between Alsager and Crewe is causing disruption to services between Stoke-on-Trent and Crewe. As a result, trains may be cancelled or delayed by up to 20 minutes.

Disruption is expected until 12:00.

What has happened?

There is a fault with the signalling system at Stowford Level Crossing. This is between Stoke-on-Trent and Crewe and is disrupting our trains on the Newark Castle / Crewe route.

Network Rail visited the site earlier and resolved the fault, however, the fault has reoccurred and team are en route to carry out further investigations.

 

How does this affect my train?

Trains running through the area in both direction may be delayed by 20 minutes between Stoke-on-Trent and Crewe.

At present East Midlands Railway are expecting the problem to be fixed in the next 2 hours. As soon as the problem is fixed their priority will be to get trains running to their advertised times again.
