Damage to the overhead electric wires between Manchester Piccadilly and Manchester Oxford Road means all lines are blocked. As a result, trains may be cancelled, delayed by up to 60 minutes or revised. This is expected until the end of the day.

East Midlands Railway

There is a tree on the overhead lines between Manchester Oxford road and Manchester Piccadilly and is disrupting trains on the Liverpool / Nottingham / Norwich route.

Network Rail and the emergency services on site to remove the object from the overhead wires.

How does this affect my train?

Trains running through the area in both directions cannot run.

At present, East Midlands Railway are expecting the problem to be fixed in the next 2 hours. As soon as the problem is fixed the priority will be to get trains running to their advertised times again. East Midlands Railway expect their advertised timetable to resume on the affected routes.

How do I get where I need to be?

Train services are running between Liverpool and Manchester Oxford Road / Manchester Victoria, additionally train services are also running between Manchester Piccadilly and Sheffield. Ticket acceptance is in place with Northern and TransPennine Express. 

Customers will need to make their way between Manchester stations to complete their journey.

You should continue to travel as originally planned however your journey may be delayed by 60 minutes.

East Midlands Railway are currently looking at alternative arrangements to keep you on the move. Please remember that this can take time and be assured that their teams are working tirelessly to arrange this as quickly as possible for you.

Northern

All Northern services to / from Manchester stations will be disrupted. Services from Blackpool North / Windermere / Barrow-in-Furness will start / terminate at Preston.

Northern customers can use Manchester Metrolink between Manchester stations and all ticket restrictions have been lifted during this disruption.

Where possible customers should look to make alternative travel arrangements due to the level of disruption this is causing.
