Failure of the electricity supply between Liverpool Lime Street / Warrington Bank Quay and Wigan North Western means all lines are blocked. Services between these stations will be cancelled, revised or delayed by up to 30 minutes.

Disruption is expected until 11:45.

Northern customer advice:

Northern services between Liverpool Lime Street and Manchester Airport via Newton-le-Willows are not affected by this disruption. You may board these services for Huyton or travel towards Manchester for onward connections to Wigan Wallgate / Blackpool North.

Additionally, you can use your ticket at no additional cost on Merseyrail services between Liverpool Central and Ormskirk / Southport until 12:30 for onwards Northern connections from Southport to Wigan Wallgate and Preston.

TransPennine Express customer advice:

When the line reopens, you can use your tickets at no extra cost on the following services:

  • Northern services between Preston and Liverpool Lime Street that depart before 14:00

Please be aware that Northern services are likely to be busy.
