The railway has become flooded between Lockerbie and Carstairs, closing all lines between these stations.
This means that trains running between Carlisle and Motherwell / Edinburgh may be cancelled, delayed by up to 60 minutes or revised.
This issue is expected to continue to impact services until the end of the day.
Avanti West Coast customer advice:
You may use your tickets on the following services at no extra cost:
- CrossCountry between Birmingham New Street and Edinburgh
- LNER between London Kings Cross and Edinburgh
- Northern between Carlisle and Newcastle
If your train is cancelled, your ticket is valid on one of the two Avanti West Coast services immediately before your booked train, or one of the two immediately after.
TransPennine Express customer advice:
You may use your tickets on the following services at no extra cost on services leaving before 16:00:
- Alternative TransPennine Express services between Newcastle and Edinburgh
- CrossCountry between York and Edinburgh
- LNER between York and Edinburgh
- Northern between Carlisle and Newcastle
