A vehicle has struck a bridge between Bedford and Luton some lines are blocked. Trains running between these stations may be cancelled, delayed by up to 20 minutes or revised. Disruption is expected until 18:30.

Customer Advice

Trains between Bedford and Flitwick are being disrupted, affecting Thameslink and East Midlands Railway. One of the two northbound lines is blocked, as well as one of the two southbound lines.

Trains on the remaining two lines will run at reduced speeds. This means staff are expecting delays of up to 10-20 minutes to journeys in the area.

Some trains are also having to be amended at very short notice, and there will be a small number of cancellations.

Can you tell me more about the incident? 

A bus has collided with a bridge between Bedford and Flitwick. For safety reasons, until the bridge is checked, the outer tracks over it have been closed. The inner tracks over the bridge can be used with a significant speed restriction. Network Rail response staff have been deployed to deal with the situation.
