The earlier faulty train just outside Salford Crescent station has now been moved, allowing all lines to reopen.
As service recovers, trains running between Bolton and Salford Crescent may still be cancelled or delayed by up to 30 minutes.
This issue is expected to continue to impact services until 09:00.
Northern customer advice:
You may use your ticket on the following services at no extra cost:
- Alternative Northern services via any reasonable route
- Metrolink between Ashton-under-Lyne and Manchester stations (until 09:00)
- TransPennine Express between Preston and Manchester stations
All ticket restrictions have been lifted during this disruption.
Rail replacement transport has been confirmed to operate as follows:
- A bus (operated by S-Line) will depart Wigan Wallgate at 08:40, calling at all stops to Manchester Victoria via Westhoughton
- A bus (operated by S-Line) will depart Bolton at 08:35, calling at all stops to Manchester Victoria
Please note, journey times will be extended by up to 45 minutes when travelling using rail replacement transport.
