Once considered to be the Capital of the England, York is a walled city steeped in history. As well as having a spectacular Minster in the heart of the city which is full of history, York also has a delicious history in the world of chocolate, and was once “home” to the Romans, the Vikings, and of course the wonderful Dame Judi Dench - although not all at the same time…
For those visiting the city by rail, the National Railway Museum can be found just 6 minutes away from the station and provides hours of fun for both children and adults alike. For those looking to continue the history trail of the city, then another museum within a 7-minute walk is the Bar Convent Living Heritage Centre.
If history isn’t your cup of tea but a mug of ‘Rosie Lee’ is, then the Perky Peacock Coffee Shop (8-minutes’ walk) and Mexicano York (12-minutes) can be found not too far away, providing the perfect place to sit and watch the world go by with some excellent food and a brew.
