High winds and heavy rain have had a severe impact on Scotland's railway infrastructure yesterday, particularly in the Central Belt.

Storm Ali caused major line blockages, due to a number of trees falling onto the lines, and damage to overhead wires.

Network Rail engineers have been working throughout the night to rectify all faults and clear the lines; however, not all issues have been resolved, and trains and train crew are out of place as a direct result of yesterday's storm.

Therefore, some ScotRail train services may be cancelled or revised until approximately 15:00.

The following changes currently apply:

  • Services between Dumbarton Central and Cumbernauld via Springburn have been suspended
  • Services between Falkirk Grahamston and Glasgow Queen Street will run non stop between Camelon and Glasgow Queen Street
  • Services between Ayr and Glasgow Central will be starting from / terminating at Kilwinning
  • Services between Glasgow Central and Largs / Ardrossan Harbour have been suspended
  • Delays through Ladybank
