Current COVID restrictions on board
When travelling by train in England, it's important to remember a few key points:
- Wear a face mask which covers your nose and mouth (unless exempt)
- Maintain at least 2m distance from other passengers
- Wash your hands wherever possible
When not in lockdown, regions of England operate on a basis of tiered restrictions in order to provide localised response to COVID-19. As these tiers have different guidelines and restrictions for public transport, we recommend consulting the government guidelines for tiers in the regions you plan to travel to or from.

Being COVID-aware when you travel
If you have coronavirus symptoms:
- a high temperature
- a new, continuous cough
- a loss of, or change to, your sense of smell or taste
Get a test and stay at home. Please do not attempt to board the train if you exhibit any of the above symptoms.
