Lines have reopened following a fault on train between Market Harborough and Leicester. As service recovers, trains between these stations may still be cancelled or delayed by up to 60 minutes.

Disruption is expected until 22:00.

Maintenance teams have rectified the fault and the train is now on the move.

How does this affect my train? Whilst East Midlands Railway are working hard to restore our advertised timetable services may continue to divert. If your service is diverted please be aware this may add between 35-40 minutes to your journey today. Certain diversionary routes may also miss out stations. Journey planners will reflect any of these changes. How do I get where I need to be? You should continue to travel as originally planned however your journey may be delayed by 60 minutes.

Trains are likely to experience extended delays or alterations. You should use alternative routes which will be most comfortable and quickest way to get where you need to be. You may travel via the following alternative routes: Sheffield You may travel to Doncaster where you should change for a train to London Kings Cross. It is likely to take between 2 and 2.5 hours to complete this journey. LNER, who run the trains between Doncaster and London Kings Cross recommend booking a seat reservation. This can be done up to 5 minutes before the train departs here for lots of useful information about what to expect when travelling via London Kings Cross. You can also travel between Sheffield and Birmingham with CrossCountry. You may also travel between Sheffield and Doncaster with TransPennine Express. Derby / Chesterfield You may travel to Birmingham New Street where you should change for a train to London Euston. It is likely to take between 2.5 and 3 hours to complete this journey. Visit here for lots of useful information about what to expect when travelling via London Euston. Leicester You may travel to Nuneaton where you should change for a train to London Euston. It is likely to take 2 hours to complete this journey. Visit here for lots of useful information about what to expect when travelling via London Euston. Nottingham You can travel with Northern between Nottingham and Sheffield. At Sheffield you can then make connections towards Doncaster. All of these alternative route options are available in the opposite direction too. Don’t worry about your ticket, East Midlands have already made arrangements with above train companies for you to travel with your original ticket. These arrangements will remain in place until the train service recovers. As it is late in the day the number of connecting trains are limited. If you have already started your journey we will make every effort to get you to your destination by rail. If not, East Midlands Railway will make alternative arrangements for you.
