Due to industrial action by the RMT union across the railway industry, Great Western Railway expect their rail services to be severely affected from 21 to 25 June. A significantly reduced temporary timetable will be in place.
Only travel by rail if necessary. If you do travel, expect severe disruption and please plan ahead.
Train services:
Great Western Railway will operate as many trains as possible during the strike action, however most train services will be affected on the days announced. Due to the timing of the strike action, services in between strike days will also be affected.
Where services run, they are expected to be extremely busy. Great Western Railway are not able to provide bus replacement services.
Maps detailing which routes will have a train service, during limited hours, are available on the Great Western Railway website.
Ticket changes and refunds:
Customers who have already purchased tickets can claim a full refund or can amend their ticket; those who travel and are delayed may be entitled to delay repay compensation if they are delayed by 15 minutes or more. Season ticket holders can apply for compensation through the Delay Repay scheme.
To help customers, GWR is allowing people with tickets for travel on strike days to be able to travel on the day before and up to two days after.
Frequently Asked Questions:
Industrial action FAQ's are addressed on the Great Western Railway website.
Check before you travel:
The revised timetable for the strike days is not currently showing in the National Rail Enquiries real-time Journey Planner. Please check back on Thursday for 20, 21 and 23 June, and on Friday for 22 and 24 June..
