Strike action has been announced by the RMT union on the following dates:

Wednesday 15 March

Trains will run as planned with some minor changes to late-night services. Please check before you travel.

Additional services are being provided to help take customers between London and Cheltenham for the Cheltenham Festival.

The Night Riviera Sleeper service will not operate.

Thursday 16 March

An extremely limited service will operate between 07:30 and around 19:30. If you are intending to travel, please check both outward and return journeys.

A very limited service will run only on the following routes:

  • Between London Paddington and Bristol Temple Meads, extending to Plymouth every other hour
  • Between London Paddington and Bristol Parkway
  • Between London Paddington and Cardiff
  • Between London Paddington and Oxford
  • Between Slough and Windsor & Eton Central 
  • Between Maidenhead and Marlow
  • Between Twyford and Henley-on-Thames
  • Between Reading and Basingstoke
  • Between Cardiff Central and Westbury

 

The Night Riviera Sleeper service will not operate.

Trains that will run are expected to be busier than usual. 

No services will operate to Cheltenham for the Cheltenham Festival, customers will need to consider alternative means of travel.

Friday 17 March

Trains will continue to be disrupted. There will be a reduced level of service throughout the day with a later start to services in the morning and some late-night services may be cancelled.

Trains that are operating will be extremely busy. Please check before you travel.

Additional services are being provided to help take customers between London Paddington and Cheltenham for the Cheltenham Festival.

The Night Riviera Sleeper service will not operate.

Saturday 18 March 

An extremely limited service will operate between 07:30 and around 18:30. If you are intending to travel, please check both outward and return journeys.

A very limited service will run only on the following routes between:

  • Between London Paddington and Bristol Temple Meads, extending to Exeter every other hour
  • Between London Paddington and Bristol Parkway
  • Between London Paddington and Cardiff Central
  • Between London Paddington and Oxford
  • Between London Paddington and Newbury
  • Between West Ealing and Greenford
  • Between Slough and Windsor & Eton Central
  • Between Maidenhead and Marlow
  • Between Twyford and Henley-on-Thames
  • Between Reading and Basingstoke
  • Between Cardiff Central and Westbury
  • Between Plymouth and Newton Abbot (replacement buses will operate between Exeter and Newton Abbot)

 

The Night Riviera Sleeper service will not operate.

The National Rail Enquiries Journey Planner is not yet showing the strike day services. Below is a summary of when Journey Planners will be showing the revised timetable:

  • For journeys on 15 to 17 March, please check back after 10 March
  • For journeys on 18 and 19 March, please check back after 14 March
  • For journeys on 29 to 31 March, please check back after 25 March
  • For journeys on 1 and 2 April, please check back after 28 March 

 

When the planner is updated, please check your entire journey is still possible, especially as the first and last trains of the day may have changed.
