Following the attempted theft of railway equipment in the Balcombe area trains are now able to run at line speed again. While service recovers, trains running between Haywards Heath and Three Bridges / Gatwick Airport may be delayed by up to 20 minutes.
Disruption is expected until 14:30.
Services can now run normally again, however delays of around 10-20 minutes may have been picked up between Haywards Heath and Three Bridges / Gatwick Airport earlier today. This has been affecting services travelling in both directions.
Some short notice alterations are possible as a result, meaning some services may have cancelled stops, or will terminate and restart at a different station to normal.
You can travel using your normal route this afternoon, but you should check before you travel and allow some extra time for your journey - an extra 20 minutes is advised.

Staff have received reports of a possible theft of railway equipment in the area. Network Rail colleagues and the British Transport Police are on site and investigating at present. Trains were being cautioned through the area, resulting in some delays, however they can now run normally again.
