A broken down train at Streatham Common means some lines are blocked. As a result, trains running through this station may be cancelled, delayed or revised.
We expect this to continue until 18:30.
Customer Advice:
A broken down train at Streatham Common is blocking the line used by Southern "Metro" stopping services heading southbound through this station, towards East Croydon, Sutton or Epsom Downs.
Unfortunately the position of the train is also blocking a junction, meaning trains from East Croydon to London Bridge via Streatham Common are also disrupted.
Trains in the area may be delayed, altered to stop at fewer stations, or cancelled at short notice.
We are making efforts to move the broken down train as soon as possible, but you may need to use another route, and your journey may take up to 20-30 minutes longer.
We are currently arranging ticket acceptance on alternative public transport routes.
Can you tell me more about the incident?
The 16.46 London Victoria to Sutton service has stopped half-way into Platform 1 at Streatham Common due to a brake fault. When train brakes have faults, the entire train will be stopped, as the system is "failsafe". Unfortunately this does mean the fault will need to be resolved sufficiently to make sure the train can move, and this is taking some time.
