A fault with the signalling system at Maidstone East means some lines are blocked. As a result, trains may be delayed by up to 30 minutes, cancelled or revised.
Disruption is expected until 08:30.
What's happened?
A fault with the signalling system in the Newington area is affecting trains towards London, with trains unable to stop at Newington station. Services towards Dover Priory and Ramsgate are not affected. Response staff attended to the signalling fault last night, but were not able to fully resolve the issue. They will continue their investigations after the morning 'peak' period has ended.
How does this affect my journey?
Trains on the following routes cannot call at Newington, in the London-bound direction:
- Dover Priory/Broadstairs to London Cannon Street
- Dover Priory to London Victoria
Trains on all routes from Faversham towards London are experiencing delays of up to 10 minutes, as they pass through the affected area at Newington.
Trains away from London towards Dover Priory and Ramsgate are not affected.
What should I do?
We're working to arrange replacement buses to run from Newington to connect with trains at Rainham.
If you're travelling from Newington, please travel to Sittingbourne, and change for trains towards London.
If you're travelling to Newington on a London-bound train, please continue to Rainham, where trains back towards Newington are available.
