Due to a problem at the depot fewer trains are able to run on the Reigate to Redhill line. Train services between these stations may be cancelled. Disruption is expected until 09:00.
Customer Advice
Some early-morning Southern services between Redhill and Reigate have been cancelled. This is due to a problem with the availability of trains stored at Gatwick Airport overnight. Please check your journey by using the live departure boards here.Â
If there is a long wait until the next service, Southern recommend that you use alternative public transport options in the local area. This may still take longer, but is likely to be quicker than waiting for the next Southern service. Depending on whether you use a local bus or train, it is likely to take around 10-20 minutes of extra time.Â
Southern tickets will be accepted at no extra cost on:-
- Metrobus services between Redhill and Reigate, on any reasonable route
- Great Western Railway services between Redhill and Reigate Â
Can you tell me more about the incident?Â
Unfortunately, there is a shortage of trains at the sidings at Gatwick Airport this morning. Sidings are sections of track used to store trains before they enter service, in this case including trains which should have been waiting overnight before running today's timetable. Southern control room staff have been working hard to reposition other trains in order to provide a service to Reigate, but there will still be some disruption for a short while, and we're sorry for any disruption caused to your journey.
