A broken rail in the Finsbury Park area means that trains have to run at reduced speed on all lines. As a result, trains between Stevenage and London Kings Cross / Moorgate may be cancelled or delayed by up to 30 minutes.

If you are travelling between Moorgate and Hertford North, your journey may take up to 30 minutes longer than usual.

Some trains on the following routes will not run:

• From Peterborough towards London Kings Cross
• Between Moorgate and Gordon Hill / Hertford North

Trains which run between Moorgate and Stevenage will still run, calling at Gordon Hill and Hertford North en route.

Trains which usually run between Moorgate and Welwyn Garden City / Stevenage will not stop at Harringay or Hornsey in the direction away from London.

If you are travelling from Harringay or Hornsey in the direction towards Stevenage:

Please instead travel to Finsbury Park, and change there for trains towards your destination.

If you are travelling to Harringay or Hornsey in the direction away from London:

Please travel on to Alexandra Palace, and change for a return service towards your destination.

LNER

A reduced service will run to and from London Kings Cross to allow a scheduled timetable to run. This will reduce congestion caused by the 5mph speed restriction in place.

Can you tell me more about the incident?

There is damage to the rail on a set of points in the Finsbury Park area. While this is ongoing, Network Rail have had to put a speed restriction in place along the affected section of the track. Trains can still run at full speed using the remaining lines through the area, but this will reduce to number of trains which can run between London Kings Cross / Moorgate and Finsbury Park.

Your journey may be delayed by this, and some early morning peak services will not run.

Teams are working with track engineers to ensure repairs are planned and completed as quickly as possible. Often, if these works involve the route being closed or a need for complex machinery, they'll need to happen overnight or during a weekend closure. Speed restrictions help prevent any further track damage until this is done.
