Travel smart with e-tickets

For the best experience, get your e-tickets on the Grand Central app - download it here

With our e-tickets, you can buy, display and use tickets on your mobile device - there's no need to print them out, have them delivered or queue at the train station any more.

E-tickets are available for all Grand Central fares.

How to use Grand Central e-tickets

When you buy an e-ticket, the choice is yours how you want to use it:

  1. As a digital e-ticket stored in the "Bookings" section of the Grand Central app
  2. As a PDF file displayed on your mobile device
  3. As a printed document presented on the train

PDF files are attached to your booking confirmation emails and are also available for download both through the My Account section of our website and the "Bookings" section of the Grand Central app.

How to use your e-ticket

When you're logged in, you'll see your journeys in the Bookings section of the Grand Central app. To view an e-ticket, click on the orange "View e-ticket" button or download the PDF file.

Things to remember

  • When buying your tickets, choose "e-ticket" as your delivery option.
  • Your tickets are all stored in the free Grand Central app, available for Android and iOS.
  • There's no need to activate your e-tickets, simply make sure to bring them with you when you travel.
  • You don't need an account to use e-tickets, but registering means you can keep them all in one place.
  • If you're using the Grand Central app or PDF files, ensure that your device has enough charge for the duration of your journey - Grand Central trains offer charging points at seats but cannot guarantee availability.
  • Tickets can be downloaded to as many devices as necessary, so you can buy them for other travellers and provide them with the PDF file.
  • Once a ticket has been downloaded, you don't need an Internet connection to use it.
  • We still offer older-style "Print at Home" tickets - these require passenger information to be entered on each ticket and must be printed off - they cannot be displayed on a mobile device.
  • If you need to change or amend your booking, you will need to contact our bookings support team on 0371 244 0216.
