We are looking forward to carrying as many passengers as possible this weekend, heading to Wembley stadium for the Championship Play-Off Final between Sheffield United and Sunderland on Saturday 24th May. However, all services between Sunderland and London King's Cross will experience high demand and are fully reserved.
Particularly busy travel times:
- Southbound trains from Sunderland to London King's Cross: All day on Friday and Saturday morning.
- Northbound trains from London King's Cross to Sunderland: Saturday evening and Sunday morning.
Additionally, services between Doncaster and London King's Cross are expected to be fully reserved:
- Southbound trains from Doncaster to London King's Cross: Saturday morning.
- Northbound trains from London King's Cross to Doncaster: Saturday evening.
If you’re travelling with an open ticket this weekend and don’t have a seat reservation, do not travel on our Sunderland route or between Doncaster and London. Due to extremely high demand, those without reservations may not be able to board.

Engineering work is taking place on Platform 2 at Hillington West station, closing the platform for 13 weeks (project background information is available below).
Due to this, Westbound trains (towards Paisley Gilmour Street) will not call at Hillington West. Eastbound services (towards Glasgow Central) are not affected by this and will run as normal.
If you are travelling to / from Hillington West you should instead travel to / from Hillington East if possible. Hillington East is a short distance from Hillington West.

Background information on this project:
Network Rail will be delivering nearly £3m of upgrades in platform works at Hillington West station. The investment will not only improve safety and reliability of the railway but will provide modern, safer platforms and wider improvements to the station environment for passengers.
The project consists of two 13-week phases, the first phase being the renewal of platform 1. Once platform 1 is renewed it will reopen and teams will then spend 13 weeks renewing platform 2.
Engineering work is taking place on Platform 2 at Hamilton West station, closing the platform for the duration.
Due to this, Eastbound trains (towards Motherwell / Larkhall) will not call at Hamilton West. Westbound services (towards Glasgow Central) are not affected by this and will run as normal.
If you are travelling to / from Hamilton West you should instead travel to / from Hamilton Central if possible. Hamilton Central is a short distance from Hamilton West.

Engineering work is taking place on the Blackheath Tunnel, closing all lines between Blackheath and Charlton from Monday 19 May until the end of the day on Saturday 26 July.
No trains will run between Blackheath and Charlton.
Most trains between Dartford and London Cannon Street via Woolwich Arsenal / Lewisham will be diverted to run via Greenwich, however at peak times some of these trains will be diverted to run via Bexleyheath.
There will be two trains per hour fewer between Blackheath and London Cannon Street. At peak times some additional trains will run between Dartford and London Cannon Street via Bexleyheath. Alternative travel options:

Engineering work is taking place at a number of places on the Caledonian Sleeper network, closing some lines on Friday evening / Saturday morning.
From London:
The 21:15 London Euston to Inverness / Fort William / Aberdeen service will be retimed to depart London Euston at 20:45, and will not call at Crewe or Preston.
The 23:45 London Euston to Glasgow Central / Edinburgh service will be retimed to depart London Euston at 21:40. This service will not call at Watford Junction or Carlisle.
Towards London:
The 20:45 Inverness / 19:50 Fort William / 21:43 Aberdeen to London Euston service will not call at Preston or Crewe. This service will arrive at London Euston at 08:45.
The 23:40 Glasgow Central / Edinburgh to London service will be retimed to depart Glasgow Central at 21:40, Motherwell at 22:02, Carstairs at 22:26 and Edinburgh at 23:25. This service will not call at Carlisle or Watford Junction.
