Engineering work is taking place between Trowbridge and Warminster, closing lines around Westbury.
On Tuesday 25 and Wednesday 26 December, no train services will operate on Great Western Railway or South Western Railway networks
Great Western Railway:
Sunday 23 and Monday 24 December and Thursday 27 December to Thursday 3 January:
No trains will call at Westbury or Dilton Marsh. Long distance services will run to a reduced timetable, with additional stops at Frome for road transport to / from Westbury.
Replacement bus services will operate between:
- Trowbridge, Westbury and Warminster.
- Westbury and Dilton Marsh.
- Chippenham and Westbury (via Melksham and Trowbridge).
Train services between Cardiff Central and Portsmouth Harbour will run between Cardiff Central and Trowbridge, and also between Warminster and Portsmouth Harbour.
Services between Bristol Temple Meads and Weymouth will mostly run between Frome and Weymouth. A limited number of trains will run between Bristol Temple Meads and Weymouth, but these will not call at Westbury, and will reverse direction during the journey.
Great Western Railway services to / from Brighton will not run beyond Portsmouth Harbour. Customers should use alternative services.
On Monday 24 December, evening services will shut down earlier than usual, between 21:30 and 22:30.
South Western Railway:
Sunday 23 - Monday 24 December and Thursday 27 and Friday 28 December:
No South Western Railway services will run between Bristol Temple Meads and Salisbury. Valid tickets can be used on Great Western Railway services between Bristol Temple Meads and Salisbury. A replacement bus for the last train of the day from Bristol Temple Meads will run between Trowbridge and Salisbury
Tuesday 25 and Wednesday 26 December:
No services will operate on these days.
Saturday 29 December to Thursday 3 January:
It is not yet known how South Western Railway will be affected on these dates.
