Project Information:
Network Rail are investing £250 million on upgrades to the overhead wiring system on the Great Eastern main line between London Liverpool Street and Chelmsford, in order to increase peak capacity by 30%.
Similar upgrades on the Southend Victoria line are also taking place, replacing infrastructure that dates back to the 1950s. Both projects aim to reduce delays and cancellations, increase capacity, and support the introduction of new rolling stock on these routes.
More information on these upgrades can be found here.
