How is this currently affecting the train service?
Currently services between London and Peterborough are disrupted, however a bus replacement service will remain in operation whilst a normal service is restored.
Can you tell me more about the incident?
We regret to inform you that a person has been hit by a train between Peterborough and Hitchin. As a result power to all lines had been switched off to allow Network Rail response staff and the emergency services to attend. Some lines have now reopened. Once all lines have reopened we will work to restore our services in time for the evening peak.
When experiencing severe disruption, crew and trains are then not
in the right place at the right time ready for their next service. Control teams are working to restore the service ready in time for the
evening peak.
Thameslink and Great Northern work closely with The
Samaritans and support the work that they do. If you or someone close to
you has been affected by this incident or other, there is always
someone to talk to. Contact the Samaritans on 116 123 free at any time,
