Amber and Yellow weather warnings for Storm Ciarán have been issued by the Met Office, from early evening on Wednesday 1 November until early morning on Friday 3 November.
As Storm Ciarán passes over the UK, heavy rain and strong winds are forecast.
Due to the poor weather conditions, train services running across the Northern network may be cancelled or delayed until the end of service today.
The following routes are currently affected:
Between Newcastle and Carlisle
A speed restriction has been put into place between Newcastle and Carlisle due to the severe weather.
Trains have to run at reduced speed on all lines through the area and this will cause delays and cancellations in both directions on the following lines:
- Newcastle - Carlisle
- Hexham - Newcastle / Middlesbrough / Nunthorpe
