Due to forecast severe weather between Bournemouth and Weymouth trains have to run at reduced speed.
What's Going On
Train services running to and from these stations may be cancelled, delayed or revised. Disruption is expected until the end of the day.
What We're Doing About It
The Met Office has forecast sustained winds of more than 60mph in the Weymouth area from 11:00 today. High winds can increase the risk of falling trees and of possible debris being blown on to the railway.
As a precaution, the following speed restriction will be implemented across our network:
- From 11:00 a speed restriction of 50mph will take affect between Weymouth and Bournemouth in both directions
These speed restrictions have been put in place to protect passengers and to allow drivers extra time to see and react to potential obstructions on the track. However, as a result of these restrictions, train will be delayed or revised at short notice.
