A shortage of train crew between Bedford and Brighton means fewer Thameslink trains are able to run. As a result, trains will be cancelled. This is expected until 05:00 on Friday 2 August.

Customer Advice:

A shortage of available train crew will result in disruption to Thameslink services tonight.

This will affect trains in both directions between Three Bridges and Bedford, including both Gatwick and Luton Airports.

Please check before you travel using online journey planners. If your planned train is cancelled, then you will likely need to take either an earlier or later train instead, or you'll need to use an alternative route. However, at this time of the night alternative options and services will be very limited.

Thameslink have requested rail replacement buses from their suppliers to supplement these gaps in service, but searches are not proving succesful at this time. They will update journey planners as soon as they have any confirmed.

Live departure boards can be found here.

You can view a live map of the network here.

You can also see an alternative route guide here.

If you're travelling in the London area, you can plan journeys on alternative routes by using the TfL Journey Planner here.

We know these cancellations and service changes are inconvenient, and Thameslink are doing everything they can to run as many trains as possible. Unfortunately, they've got a shortage of train drivers tonight and this means some trains will be cancelled.

Compensation:

You may be entitled to compensation if you experience a delay in completing your journey today. Please keep your train ticket and make a note of your journey, as both will be required to support any claim.
