On Saturday 7 and Sunday 8 October, no Chiltern Railway services are planned to operate between London Marylebone and Aylesbury / Aylesbury Vale Parkway. This is while the new signalling system being installed along the London Underground section of the line is tested.
On both days rail replacement buses are scheduled to run between Beaconsfield and Aylesbury Vale Parkway, calling at Amersham, Great Missenden, Wendover, Stoke Mandeville, Aylesbury and Aylesbury Vale Parkway. Due to long term engineering work between Princes Risborough and Aylesbury, rail replacement buses are also running between Princes Risborough and Aylesbury , calling at Monks Risborough and Little Kimble.
After 20:00 on Saturday 7 and Sunday 8 October, bus journeys between Aylesbury Vale Parkway and Beaconsfield will potentially be affected by a road closure between Wendover and Great Missenden. This is to facilitate HS2 construction work.
What could happen:
On both evenings, Chiltern Railway will establish whether or not the road Closure has been put in place.
If the closure is not taken, the rail replacement buses will continue to run as planned.
If the road is closed, then the following will happen:
Due to the diversionary route not being suitable for buses, an ad-hoc bus service will be operating. All running buses will terminate at stations and be held there for the rest of their shifts for our bus coordinators to use as appropriate to help customers reach their destinations.
- Buses will be held at Beaconsfield, Aylesbury, Princes Risborough and Great Missenden (for Amersham) for bus coordinators to use to move passengers. Buses might not run to their scheduled timetables.
- For passengers that drive to stations and whose journeys will not be completed before 20:00 - the advice is to continue to their nearest station on the High Wycombe line and continue their journeys from there.
- For passengers travelling to Amersham or Great Missenden the advice is to go to Beaconsfield for a bus connection.
- For passengers travelling to Wendover, Stoke Mandeville, Aylesbury, or Aylesbury Vale Parkway, the advice is to travel to Princes Risborough for a bus connection.
- For Passengers travelling from Harrow on the Hill to Amersham, and then heading towards Aylesbury, advice is to speak to the coordinator at Amersham who will arrange taxis. Please note that these journeys will take a long time and potentially involve multiple bus journeys as the London Underground Metropolitan Line is closed all weekend between Wembley Park and Amersham. Valid train tickets will need to be held.
- If the road closures happen, it is possible that customers may experience extended waiting times for the rail replacement bus services, due to potential high passenger numbers and possible road congestion.
