A fault with the signalling system between Ormskirk and Preston means all lines are blocked. Trains running between these stations will be cancelled.

Disruption is expected until 11:00.

Network Rail engineers are on site and are working to rectify the issue with this expected to be completed by 11:00.

Customers at Preston wishing to travel to Ormskirk can alternatively travel on a Northern service to Liverpool Lime Street and can use their ticket at no extra cost to board a Merseyrail service between Liverpool Stations and Ormskirk.

Customers at Ormskirk wishing to travel to Preston can use their Northern ticket at no extra cost to board a MerseyRail service to Liverpool Stations to connect with a Northern service at Liverpool Lime Street to Preston.

Any ticket restrictions have been lifted during this disruption.
