A broken down train in the Ashburys area is causing disruption to journeys between Manchester Piccadilly and Stalybridge / Hadfield / New Mills Central. As a result, trains are unable to run between these stations.

Some Northern Manchester Piccadilly to Sheffield services will divert via Stockport.

Some TransPennine Express services may be diverted via alternative route between Manchester Piccadilly and Stalybridge.

This is expected until approximately 09:00.

Northern Customer Advice:

You can use your ticket at no extra cost on TransPennine Express services between Manchester Piccadilly and Sheffield.

TransPennine Express Customer Advice:

You should continue to travel as planned, however, your journey may be delayed or altered at short notice.

Additional Information:

Engineers are enroute to the train in order to get it moving again, and a rescue train is also being arranged to run to help move the train clear of the line.

The rescue train is now on site with the broken down train at Ashburys.
