Engineering work taking place between Darlington and Bishop Auckland has overrun, closing all lines running between these stations.

This means that trains running between Saltburn and Bishop Auckland will be revised, operating between Saltburn and Darlington only.

This issue is expected to impact services until the end of the day today.

Customer advice:

Rail replacement transport has been requested to operate between Darlington and Bishop Auckland, in both directions. You will be updated here once this is confirmed.

Additional information:

Engineering work has been taking place in the Shildon area over the weekend. As the work was carried out, a number of issues have been encountered, and testing has progressed a lot more slowly than planned. It is now expected that it will take the majority of the day today for the work to be finished. Network Rail engineers are on site aiming to complete this as quickly as possible.
