Following a fault with the signalling system between Derby and Stoke-on-Trent all lines have reopened. As service recovers, trains may still be cancelled or revised. This is expected until 10:00.
What has happened?
There was a fault with the signalling system earlier today at Uttoxeter. This is between Derby and Stoke on Trent and is disrupting our trains on the Newark Castle- Crewe route. Network Rail have now fixed the issue and have re-opened the line following an earlier closure. Trains can now start to run through again but delays and alterations may still affect some services whilst we work to get trains running to their advertised times again.
Â
How does this affect my train?
Trains running through the area in both directions can now start to run between between Derby and Stoke on Trent. Some residual delays may apply so check your journey before you travel and allow extra time. At present the problem is now fixed and the line has re-opened. Our priority is now to get trains running to their advertised times again. We expect our advertised timetable to resume on the affected routes by 10:00.
Â
How do I get where I need to be?
You should continue to travel as originally planned however your journey may be delayed. If you have started to travel via the following routes then your ticket will be valid for the entirety of your journey:
- Derby - Tamworth - Birmingham New Street
- Tamworth - Crewe
- Birmingham New Street - Stoke on Trent
- Stoke on Trent and Crewe
These services are ran by CrossCountry and West Midlands Railway but donât worry about your ticket, we have already made arrangements with them for you to travel with your original ticket. This is in place in both directions. These arrangements will remain in place until the line re-opens and the train service recovers. We promise that if you need to start your outward journey from a different operator's station due to this disruption, then you will also be able to travel back to that station when you return, regardless of if the disruption has ended or your ticket type. Our rail industry colleagues will welcome you on board with your original ticket. We are currently looking at alternative arrangements to keep you on the move. Please remember that this can take time and be assured that our team are working tirelessly to arrange this as quickly as possible for you. We appreciate your patience whilst we do this.
