Heavy rain from Storm Christoph fell across the North of England on Tuesday and Wednesday causing flooding and damage to the railway.
As a result, disruption will continue as Network Rail engineers work hard to get lines open.
If you are travelling on routes listed below, please check your journey as services are currently being disrupted:
Darlington - York
Some lines are blocked between Darlington and York due to flooding on the railway. Fewer trains are able to run between these stations. Disruption is expected to continue until the end of the day.
CrossCountry customers may use tickets with LNER via any reasonable route. You may also travel on TransPennine Express and Northern services between York and Leeds.
LNER customers may use tickets on the following alternative routes:
- East Midlands Railway between Sheffield and London St Pancras International
- Northern between Leeds and Sheffield
- Great Northern / Thameslink between Peterborough and London Kings Cross
Leeds - York
Rain flooding the railway between Leeds and York is causing disruption between these stations. Trains may be cancelled, delayed by up to 30 minutes or revised until the end of the day.
Northern services between Leeds and York via Garforth will be replaced by road transport throughout. Replacement transport will be operated by J&B, York Pullman and AA. Journey times will be extended by up to 60 minutes.
Due to flooding on local roads, these coaches will be unable to serve Church Fenton and Ulleskelf stations. Buses will depart at the following times:
- xx:30 from Leeds to York
- xx:15 from York to Leeds
CrossCountry customers may use their tickets on TransPennine Express and Northern services between Leeds and York. They may also use LNER services via any reasonable route.
Rotherham Central
Due to flooding from the River Don, trains will no longer call at Rotherham Central for the remainder of today.
Train services will be diverted and Rotherham Central will not be served. Passengers travelling to Rotherham Central should alight the train at Meadowhall and board a replacement bus service to Rotherham Central.
Train services between Doncaster / Leeds and Sheffield may be cancelled, delayed or revised.
Replacement road transport will operate between Meadowhall and Sheffield operated by Ross Travel.
