A shortage of train crew across the London Northwestern Railway and West Midlands Railway network on Sunday 14 July means there will be cancellations across various routes on this day.

Which services will be affected?

London Northwestern Railway

Based on the current rostering forecasts, it is unfortunately likely that services will be disrupted on all routes including;

  • London - Crewe route (London Euston - Milton Keynes Central - Rugby - Nuneaton - Tamworth - Stafford - Crewe)
  • London - Birmingham route (London Euston - Watford - Milton Keynes Central - Northampton - Coventry - Birmingham International - Birmingham New Street)
  • Birmingham - Liverpool route (Birmingham New Street - Wolverhampton - Stafford - Crewe - Liverpool South Parkway - Liverpool Lime Street)
  • Crewe - Stafford via Stoke-on-Trent
  • Marston Vale Line (Between Bletchley and Bedford)
  • St Albans Abbey Line (Between Watford Junction and St Albans Abbey)

West Midlands Railway

Based on the current rostering forecasts, it is unfortunately likely that services will be disrupted on all routes including;

  • Cross City Line (Lichfield - Four Oaks - Birmingham New Street - Redditch - Bromsgrove)
  • Snow Hill Lines (Worcester - Kidderminster - Birmingham Snow Hill / Moor Street - Dorridge - Whitlocks End - Stratford Upon Avon / Leamington Spa)
  • Shrewsbury Line (Shrewsbury - Telford - Wolverhampton - Birmingham New Street)
  • Hereford Line (Hereford - Worcester - Birmingham New Street)
  • Wolverhampton & Walsall Lines (Wolverhampton - Birmingham New Street - Walsall)
  • The Chase Line (Rugeley - Walsall - Birmingham New Street - Birmingham International)
  • Coventry Line (Coventry - Birmingham International - Birmingham New Street, operated by London Northwestern Railway.
  • Elephant & Bear Line (Nuneaton - Coventry - Leamington Spa)

What are my options?

London Northwestern Railway / West Midlands Railway have ordered rail replacement buses to supplement the train service, however rail replacement bus capacity will be limited and journey times significantly extended compared to if a full train service was able to operate.

London Northwestern Railway / West Midlands Railway will also accept tickets dated for Sunday 14, for travel on Saturday 13 through to Tuesday 16 July. If you have a ticket for Sunday 14 July and choose not to travel, you are also able to apply for a refund for your ticket with no administration fee. For such refunds, please return to your original retailer / wherever you bought the ticket.
