There is an unsafe building near the railway at Workington meaning no trains are currently able to run through this station. 

As a result of this, all lines are currently blocked. Disruption is expected to continue until at least 12:00.

Customer Advice:

Barrow to Carlisle

These services will operate between Barrow and Whitehaven where trains and train crew are available. These are still subject to short notice delays and cancellations.

Whitehaven / Workington to Carlisle

These services will be cancelled.

Road transport has been requested to operate between Whitehaven and Carlisle but as of yet has not been recruited. 

Further Information

Due to an unsafe building at Workington, no trains are able to run through this station. There is currently no estimate for the resumption of train running. Structural engineers are due on site at 08.30 to carry out further investigations.
