Effect on service:
Trains are unable to run between Sunderland and Thornaby in both directions.
Trains will be diverted via Durham, meaning services between Newcastle and Middlesbrough will only call at Thornaby.
Alternative travel suggestions:
Customers are advised to travel on services via Durham.
You may travel on TransPennine Express, CrossCountry and LNER services between Newcastle and Darlington to complete your journey.
You may also use your ticket on Tyne & Wear Metro between Newcastle and Sunderland.
Any ticket restrictions have been lifted during this disruption.
Replacement transport:
- 11:35 - 1x39 seater will depart Newcastle calling at all stations to Middlesbrough via Hartlepool
- 11:45 - 3x16 seaters will depart Thornaby calling at all stations to Newcastle via Hartlepool
- 11:40 - 2x16 seaters will depart Sunderland calling at all stations to Middlesbrough via Hartlepool
Journey times may be extended by up to 60 minutes whilst travelling by road transport.
