Following an earlier points failure between Haywards Heath and Brighton, trains running between these stations may still be cancelled or delayed by up to 30 minutes whilst service recovers.
Disruption is expected until the end of the day.

A points failure means trains travelling between Brighton and Haywards Heath will be delayed through the Preston Park area. Trains are able to run, but will only have one line to do so, and we expect delays as we expect queues to build up in the area.

Can you tell me more about the incident?
Network Rail engineers have attended and put the points in a position where we can run trains over them.
Points are moveable sections of track that allow trains to be routed to their intended destination. When these fail, trains become stranded, when no alternative routes are available, until the situation is resolved.
