Emergency services have attended an incident between Derby and Chesterfield this morning. This is affecting services on the London St Pancras International - Derby - Sheffield route.
Emergency services remain on site and are carrying out investigations. Whilst these continue, the route between Derby and Chesterfield will be closed. We currently have no estimate at this time for when the line will re-open.
How does this affect my train?
Trains cannot run between Derby and Chesterfield whilst investigations are carried out.
Trains on the London St Pancras International - Derby - Sheffield route will be diverted where possible, adding up to 40 minutes to journey times.
Trains which cannot be diverted will start / terminate at Derby, not calling at Chesterfield or Sheffield.
We currently have no estimate for when the line will re-open as investigations are being completed. Once the line has re-opened we will work to restore our advertised timetable as soon as possible.
How do I get where I need to be?
You may continue to travel as originally planned however your journey may be delayed by up to 40 minutes.
We are currently sourcing rail replacement transport to operate between Derby and Chesterfield. The first buses are expected to arrive from arpund 11:00. We are inputting journeys to online journey planners for these buses once schedules are confirmed.
East Midlands Railway have relaxed some of the usual ticket restrictions. If you hold an âAdvance' ticket which is usually valid on a specific train you may use it to travel on any trains on this route.
If you have an âOff Peakâ or âSuper Off Peakâ ticket you may use it on board peak time trains on this route today.
Trains are likely to experience extended delays or alterations. You should use alternative routes which will be most comfortable and quickest way to get where you need to be. You may travel via the following alternative routes:
Sheffield
You may travel to Doncaster where you should change for a train to London Kings Cross. It is likely to take between 2 and 2 and a half hours to complete this journey.
You can use your ticket to travel on Northern, CrossCountry and TransPennine Express services to get to / from Doncaster.
You can use your ticket with LNER, who run the trains between Doncaster and London Kings Cross. LNER do recommend booking a seat reservation. Alternatively, you can travel with Northern to Nottingham, connecting for East Midlands Railway services between Nottingham and London St Pancras International.
Derby / Chesterfield
You may travel to Birmingham New Street or Tamworth where you should change for a train to London Euston. It is likely to take between 2 and a half and 3 hours to complete this journey.
You may use your ticket to travel to travel with CrossCountry between Derby and Birmingham New Street / Tamworth.
