A fault on a train between Cambridge and Hitchin means some lines are blocked. Trains running between Cambridge and Hitchin may be cancelled, delayed by up to 30 minutes or revised.

Disruption is expected until 10:00.

Customer advice

No trains can run between Royston and Letchworth Garden City until further notice. Please allow extra time to complete your journey as you will have to use an alternative route, and possibly a rail replacement bus.

There will be a train shuttle service between Kings Lynn and Cambridge and between Letchworth Garden City and London Kings Cross.

Services that usually run between Cambridge and Brighton will run between London Bridge and Brighton only.

Great Northern and Thameslink have requested rail replacement buses to run between Royston and Letchworth Garden City and will update this section when they have been confirmed. Until then, there is no transport available between Royston and Letchworth Garden City.

Please don't leave the train unless you are asked to do so. Other trains may still be moving in the area, and the track is also a very hazardous environment.

Ticket acceptance

Your ticket will be accepted on the following, at no extra cost:

  • Greater Anglia services between Cambridge and London Liverpool Street
  • CrossCountry between Cambridge and Peterborough
  • London Underground between terminal stations
  • East Midlands Railway between Peterborough an Ely
  • Elizabeth line between London Liverpool Street and Farringdon

Can you tell me more about the incident?

The line has been blocked by a fault on a train at Ashwell & Morden and train fitters are not expected to be on site until approximately 08:00. Until then Great Northern and Thameslink will be running an altered service, with some stations not being served.
