A broken down train in the Balham area means some lines are blocked. Trains running between East Croydon and London Victoria may be cancelled or revised.

Disruption is expected until 08:00.

Customer advice

The following services changes are expected to be in place:

  • Gatwick Express services that run between Brighton, Gatwick Airport and London Victoria will be cancelled
  • Southern services that run betweeen Reigate and London Victoria, and Gatwick Airport and London Victoria (stopping services via Redhill) will be cancelled
  • Southern services that run between Eastbourne and London Victoria will be cancelled. Services that run between Ore and London Victoria will still run and will stop additionally at Cooksbridge and Hampden Park
  • Southern services that run between Epsom and London Victoria (via Mitcham Junction) will be cancelled
  • Southern services that run between East Croydon and Watford Junction will be cancelled
  • Southern services that run between Sutton and London Victoria (via Norbury) will be cancelled
  • Southern services that run between Portsmouth Harbour/Bognor Regis and London Victoria will be cancelled or will run between Portsmouth Harbour/Bognor Regis and Gatwick Airport only
  • Southern services that run between East Grinstead and London Victoria will be reduced to one train per hour in each direction
  • Southern services will not stop at Battersea Park or Wandsworth Common in the direction of Balham

Please check before you travel this morning, as your journey is likely to be affected and you'll need to allow extra time for your journey as a result. For some journeys, you may also need to use an alternative route.

Tickets will be accepted for no extra cost on the following alternatives:

  • Thameslink services on any reasonable route including to/from London Bridge and Blackfriars
  • Southern services on any reasonable route including to/from London Bridge
  • London Underground on any reasonable route including between London Terminals and to/from Balham
  • TfL Buses on any reasonable route including between East Croydon/Sutton and London Victoria, and between Clapham Junction and Watford Junction
  • Overground between Clapham Junction, Willesden Junction and Watford Junction
  • London Trams between Mitcham Junction, West Croydon and East Croydon
