A points failure between Basingstoke and Winchester means that the line towards Eastleigh is blocked.

As a result, trains running between these stations may be cancelled, delayed by up to 30 minutes or revised.

Disruption is expected until 15:00.

What We're Doing About It

South Western Railway have been informed that there is a problem with a set of points between Basingstoke and Winchester. This means that trains are unable to run on the line towards Eastleigh.

Until further notice the following alterations will be necessary:

  • Trains from Waterloo to Bournemouth/Weymouth may be diverted via Guildford
  • Trains from Waterloo to Portsmouth via Eastleigh may be diverted via Guildford

To assist you with your journey your ticket will be accepted, at no extra cost to yourself, on the following services:

  • CrossCountry between Basingstoke and Bournemouth
  • Bluestar 1 between Winchester - Shawford - Chandlers Ford - Eastleigh - Southampton Airport Parkway - Swaythling - St Denys - Southampton
  • Bluestar 2 between Southampton - St Denys - Swaythling - Eastleigh
  • Stagecoach South 61 between Winchester and Eastleigh
