A speed restriction over defective track between Gatwick Airport and East Croydon means trains towards London may be delayed by up to 10 minutes.
This is expected to continue until 10:00.
Customer Advice:
Please leave a bit of extra time for your journey towards London this morning.
Do I need to travel from a different station or take a different route?
No need to change your journey. You can travel as normal but you may arrive up to 10 minutes late at your destination if you're on a Southern or Thameslink train that runs non-stop between Gatwick Airport and East Croydon.
What's happening?
There's a 5mph speed limit on the rail line used by express trains travelling towards London. The restriction is due to a defect within one of the junctions near Earlswood station. Engineers continue to work to repair this defect.
The slower speed limit means trains have to slow down on the approach to the area and then build speed back up after the speed restriction ends. This may add up to 10 minutes delay to journeys.
